So my ENTIRE Twitter feed overnight was just Marc Jacobs this, MJ that, wow, wow, wow etc. So I had to check it out for myself. His Fall 2010 show (that's autumn to us!) at New York Fashion Week was housed in a room completely covered in corrugated cardboard. The show began with Marc in a snappy suit and his partner Robert Duffy ripping brown paper off a huge wooden crate to reveal all the models standing inside, who then proceeded to file out the crate and down the runway one by one, to the soundtrack Somewhere Over The Rainbow. How divine? Most of the models were relatively unknown, including two stylists at Marc by Marc Jacobs and two girls who were pulled off the street! The collection, in shades of greys, creams and browns, is made up of ladylike ensembles, chic pencil skirts, sheer dresses, tailored trousers, structured gowns and lots of fur. I love, love, love the cream dress with the bow detail on the front... Sigh. Marc described his show as being not about fashion, but about style. And that's why we all love him.
